This is my first post so I hope I’ve done everything right
I recently updated a review that I had initially done about 2 years ago.
That initial review was very brief and had no photos attached but when I updated it a few weeks ago with a far more elaborate (and longer) review with several photos I was surprised to see that no points were awarded for the photos. How do I know? Because I was only given 5 extra points for the (updated) review whereas I was expecting a lot more, considering how many photos I uploaded.
Has anyone seen this before and/or can anyone offer advice on how to take take this up with Google?

The pop-up points counters you see right after you resubmit your review are just motivational gimmicks. The points are recounted only once or twice a week. Don’t worry about it, you will get the points.
And you are correct, that the pop-up counter is not showing the right number of points. Remember it is just a gimmick.
Points for reviews and photos are updated in our profile immediately after the Photo / Review is added (or updated).
However this should be checked in the profile only, because, as @MortenCopenhagen said, the pop-up that show the “added points” doesn’t work correctly when you update a review, but iit doesn’t mean that the points are not granted.
In fact according to your profile you have 1154 points more that what can be deducted by the simple calculation using the data in your profile (7153 Vs 8307).
Most probably these points are coming from updating reviews, challenges and name of products, that are no visible in our contributions summary.
Thanks for correcting me with regard to what is updated immediately and what is not.
My testing on Android confirmed (of cause) that you are correct that the number of reviews is updated immediately.
So the only numbers that only get updated approximately once a week are:
The total sum of photo views (views under each individual photo are updated in near real-time).
Number of review views
The number of new places added and edits are not counted until after approval. Or is it after approval AND the next update of the total sum of photo views?
Points for photos and ratings and reviews are updated immediately in the profile.
Points for edits are [usually] updated within 24 hours, while the road addition. as far as I can see, is taking about 3 days.
The longest to be updated are the total counts of visualizations and the special badges, where the correct attribution may take a few more days (excluding photos and reviews)
