Hi,
My level was upgraded from level 7 to 8 recently. However, the first thing I saw this morning while checking Google Maps was the level and then the points — my points have gone down to 10,000 from 16,000. It was 16,000 plus until last night.
Furthermore, I tried to log in and out, clear caches and cookies since the problem on photo views cropped up.
Please help and let me know what’s going on @VasT .It’s demotivating and depressing!

I suggest you check your profile in an incognito mode. You may find your points and level intact there.

Tried checking on incognito mode still showing the same level. Anyway, thanks so much for your concern.
Do you have automatic history deletion turned on @Sarah786 ? This will be deleting your answers of the age you specified and you’ll be losing points.

Recently I changed the maps history settings to “delete after every three months automatically”. Is this the reason for the reduction in the points and level? That said, I can see my no. of photos and reviews intact — no reduction in these.
Also, please let me know the best option for not getting the reviews or maps history deleted. As of now, post your reply, I have changed the maps history settings to “keep the history until I delete manually”. Is it ok?
Yesterday I reached level 8, today my points went down by more then 6000 points, seriously depressed, no automation deletion I’m my maps history.
Yes with activity history deletion turned on it will delete your activity and any answers you’ve given which will unfortunately drop your points and if you cross a boundary your level. It won’t affect reviews and photos @Sarah786

Points fluctuations do happen from time to time, if they’re still gone tomorrow, I’d suggest opening your contributions in incognito mode and compare to what you can see when signed in to see if any have been made private.

So all the reviews and answers given before 3 months would be deleted automatically? Very disappointing and disheartening to learn this — my hard earned points and level gone with that “auto delete after every 3 months” @PaulPavlinovich . Anyway, I will take care in the future.

Nope deletion was never on, and I am still level 8 here (local guides connect) page, as you can see. No duplicate photos in my knowledge, same point in incognito tab too…
In my friends maps (app) still shows level 8, however in another friends app it again shows level 7
I also want to know about this setting
Only answers @Sarah786 reviews and photos are not affected by activity deletion.
What level do you see @Jaysinh 7 or 8?
When I look at your profile I see 7.
Looking through your photos I do see a quite a few near duplicates - not exactly the same but very close.

I see level 8 on local guides connect page- (screenshot 1)
On my maps I see level seven with around 8989 (screenshot 2) points and on my friends app I see level 7 with 6250 points (yesterday it showed level 8 on my friends app too) there might be hardly 10 photos that would seem similar, if there is anything you can do then please do, this has happened after updating to beta version… If that seems problem
It is unlikely to be the Map app version @Jaysinh I run a beta always and have not experienced this issue.
Yes I too opt for beta version almost every time but never faced anything like this, on you now @PaulPavlinovich if you have any better ideas or suggestions…
