Points and Badges

I have been adding numerous Places, and receiving confirmation for them being approved and published… The same goes for Edits… But after weeks and months I may only receive a couple points added to my count and badges… My account for example says I have only added 27 new places, however I have added many times that number… In the last few months alone I have added several… I have purposely worked to increase my ranking to Master to no avail… This is rather discouraging…please advise…

Hi @onAclick

I took a quick look at your public profile. I believe that you are not aware of some of the guidelines related to photos. We are not allowed to upload duplicates and similar (redundant) images. I don’t know if this could have caused the problems you described. But I would recommend that you systematically delete all such photos.

What kind of places have you added and don’t see on the map. Please mention the categories. You may also want to take a look at https://support.google.com/local-guides/answer/2642650?hl=en&ref_topic=6224587

All the best

Thank you for the suggestion… My phone at times does create multiple at times… I will definitely take a look at that issue so I do not upload more the one of the same …

As a example of certain added places…newly opened places such as restaurants, retail outlets and health related store fronts … In and around Zebulon, NC and Wendell, NC… A new Mc Donald’s was rejected for what I think was wrong category… I understand that one and some else got it…

And thank you for working with me… I do this as a hobby and really enjoy it…

Google Maps to many’s surprise will suggest us to upload photos that have already been uploaded. Even when this is against the guidelines. I recommend you don’t follow such prompt to avoid the problem. So it is actually not only your fault when duplicates get uploaded :kissing_heart:

It could be that other users beat you to add some new places.
