Why my points went down from 25K + to 19K? This has happened for fourth time. Kindly check the reason behind the reduction. I have been contributing since 5-6 years. This feels really sad and demotivating. @ErmesT
Thanks in advance @ErmesT
Hello @YogsatvaYoga Hello,
Sad to note that there was a reduction in points all of a sudden.
Although, the accumulated points are for the lifetime, still, there can be a deduction for the following reasons.
Deleting photos and reviews voluntarily.
I have removed many photos which were near repeats.
However, the deduction in points becomes obvious.
Purging of objectionable photos and reviews through automated evaluation,
That’s explained in the helpdesk article at this link. Prohibited and Restricted content
https://support.google.com/contributionpolicy/answer/7400114?hl=en&ref_topic=7422769#zippy=%2Coffensive-content.
“Reviews are automatically processed to detect inappropriate content like fake reviews and spam. We may take down reviews that are flagged to comply with Google policies or legal obligations.”
However, the most likely reason is the deletion of Maps history. When we choose to delete that after three or eighteen or thirty-six months, that action also deletes the “Answers to the Questions.”
You will know more about that in this article.
How do I delete my answers to questions on Google Maps?

The loss due to this inadvertent action is irrecoverable.
Nevertheless, to prevent further such deductions, you have to choose to retain the Web & App activity forever.
To do that, click your profile icon in the app. Next → Settings → Maps History → Auto Delete → and then select the option & “Don’t auto delete”.
Further, nowadays, we need not wait for the questions to arrive spontaneously. We can invoke those by going through “More ways to share” in the contribute now option. There you will find the third option seeking your inputs on the recently visited places.
That will help in mitigating some of the loss.
Hi @YogsatvaYoga ,
Thank you for reaching out! We will have a look into this.
Meanwhile, you can check out this link and make sure that you have selected “Keeping activity until you delete it manually”.
As well, I would suggest you to check out what @C_T shared with you.
