This year marks a special milestone for the Local Guides Community—10 amazing years of exploring, mapping, and sharing our knowledge to help others navigate the world better. As we gear up to celebrate this remarkable journey, it’s time for us to come together as a community and plan something extraordinary for Sri Lanka!

So, Let’s Brainstorm Meetup Ideas!
We want your input to make this celebration truly memorable. Here are some initial ideas to get us started:

Food Crawl: Explore the rich flavors of Sri Lankan cuisine by visiting iconic eateries or hidden gems in Colombo, Kandy, or Galle.

Cultural Walks: Discover the heritage of cities like Anuradhapura, Jaffna, or Galle Fort while adding fresh photos and reviews to Google Maps.

Nature Adventures: A meetup at a national park, hiking trails, or beaches to showcase Sri Lanka’s stunning natural beauty while contributing to Maps.

Community Service: Organize a beach cleanup or an accessibility-focused event to give back to our communities and make them more inclusive.

Virtual Meetup: For those who can’t join in person, let’s connect online to share stories, experiences, and tips for being a better Local Guide.

How You Can Help

One of the meetup ideas could be supporting small business
and it is easy to host.
Here are the details:
Small Business Meetup Challenge: Chai Pe Charcha, Talks over Tea

All you have to do is go out for tea with friends or local guides at a tea stall or a small coffee shop and click photos.

@praveenkumar2022 This is a good idea. I would love to join any initiative and this is a good idea to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Local Guides Program.

I am organizing a book donation for Sampathnuwara National School on January 20, 2025. I posted this on the Sri Lanka Local Guides FB group. If you are interested you can join me. I am leaving on January 19, 2025. Still, you can donate books. Please send me a message if you want to donate books.
