Planning a trip to Montevideo? Do not miss its coasts - Part 1

If you ever want to come to Uruguay, you might want to know where to go, specially in Montevideo our capital city.

There are a lot of places for you to visit, but today I want to focus on our “rambla” (waterfront promenade), one of the main reasons Montevideo is known for.

With only 19 miles (30 km) you can cross the city from west to east in a day (yes, we’re that small).

I have made a list on google maps for you to have or share with your friends, but I will highlight in this post the best locations so you can create your own route and of course, get to know a little bit more about where I come from:

Escollera Sarandí – Sarandí breakwater:

Either if you like fishing or just for fun, you can see a lot of people doing what they love the most: sitting for hours hoping they have a good catch. It also has one of the best views of the city.

Rambla República Argentina:

Yes, part of the coast is called “Argentina”. It is great to go out at night, specially in summer. In the morning if you want to start the day with a smile on your face… well, this is the perfect place to do that (with a nice cup of coffee).

Pista de patinaje - Skatepark:

This is one of my favourite places, it has such a great energy, full of people of all ages. You can roll skate or just sit on the benches and appreciate the view, which is explendid!

I like to go there when it’s cold, because I’m usually alone with nothing but the sound of the birds and the sea. Although it is super windy, so you might wanna take a coat with you.

Fun fact about the coast: In New Year’s Eve, a lot of people after midnight goes to the beach to have some drinks with friends up until sunrise… Great way to start off the year!

I don’t want to make a long post, so this is enough for now, I hope you like this and next time you come to Montevideo make sure you do it either in spring or summer so you can enjoy it the most!

@TeffiG Hola Teffi bella!!.
