I introduce a popular souvenir snack in my hometown, Tono city. This is “Akegarasu (明けがらす)”.
Akegarasu made from rice and wheat flour, sugar, walnuts, sesame, and soy oil. It’s a very plain and sweet snack. Some people maybe think it’s old fashion. But eating it occasionally is very nice for a change.
A tip for choosing good Akegarasu is it includes big walnuts;-)
My recommended shops are Chikurindo and Matsuda Shorindo in Tono. But in case you want to buy some kinds of them, I recommend you to go to Kazenooka.
I have opened to the public the shops list of Akegarasu. Check it out!

And please check this post too. This is also a good snack in my region.

This is my last post in 2019. See you again soon, all amazing local guides all over the world! Happy new year!
[Japanese]
