I really enjoy finding out-of-the-way, hidden places. Sometimes the place is a real treat; sometimes the place is a complete doghouse. I like to write very wordy reviews about both kinds of places, but the doghouses are my favorite because I’ve found that being critical comes more easily to me that spreading praise, and it is important to me that other people don’t do what I did. Which is: “Oh, look. A place by the highway with standing water all around it. Italian pizza? With palm trees all around? OK, I guess. Let’s try it.” And then I do try it, and it is a doghouse. It is my honor to warn other people away from places which serve pizza with lettuce on it. I take great pride in writing reviews, very lengthy reviews, to help people avoid places where the pizza will hurt your teeth and get all into your hair. Also: I very much enjoy taking photos of the places I go and spending half an hour touching them up to look very pretty in my phone’s photo editor. I like to post glamorous photos of unglamorous places because most people have probably never seen a really nice photo of a McDonald’s. You know, color correction, lighting, that sort of thing. The point is, I love sharing things on Google maps because I hope that people are as entertained by my posts as they are informed.
