I am reporting a bug here.
I usually save places that I am planning to visit into my Lists and remove them from the List as I visit and review the places. However, after removing from the list, they eventually automatically get back into the list where they were previously saved causing my map to be super messy like this…
I am experiencing this issue every month to every two months or so.
Here is an example of what I have been experiencing…
- I have 10 places I would like to visit, so I add them into my List.
↓
- I remove them from the list as I visit the places. I visit 7 places, so I remove them from the list and I now have only 3 places in the list after a month.
↓
- One day, I notice those 7 places that I have previously removed are somehow automatically back in the list, so I have a total of 10 places in the list again.
↓
- I have to clean my map by checking the list and remove them manually if i visited the places before, so I remove the 7 places that are no longer supposed to be in my list and I now have 3 places in the list.
↓
- I have another 20 places that I am newly interested to visit, so I add them into my list, so now I have 23 places in my list.
↓
- I visit 13 places in my list after a month, and removed them from the list, so now I have 10 places saved in my list.
↓
- One day, I notice those 13 places PLUS 7 places that I have previously removed at #2 are somehow automatically all back in the list, so I have a total of 30 places in the list (20 places already visited and supposed to be already removed).
↓
REPEAT… so the list is getting bigger and bigger each time and creating more mess I have to clean up each time.
Is this a known issue or is anyone experiencing the same? It is super tiring to see my map looking like the attached image over and over again…

@MortenCopenhagen thank you for your helpful suggestion! I read all of the comment in the thread and I see you are fighting to solve the problem for 3yrs and that is very encouraging.
It seems like a similar issue as it is related to the List, but I think it is a bit different. The main problem I have is not the list that shows up on the map because I want to see the places in the list on the map. However, many of the places I have previously removed from the list somehow automatically reappear in the list so that I see the icons of the list of those already-removed places that I do not want to see anymore on the map.
The main issue for me from this issue is that I have no idea which icons are the places I want to visit that I have not visited. How I am organizing my map is that I SHOULD see the icons on the map if I have not visited, and I SHOULD NOT see the icons if already visited. I am achieving this by removing the icons from the map after making a visit, which means they are no longer in the list after my visit. And because these already removed icons of the places comes back on the map sometimes, I can not tell which places are the ones that I have already visited and which are the ones that I have not… Then, I have to click on each icon to see my history of visit and remove the icons again.
Adding icon here means adding to a list. If I add 500 places to a list over a span of a year and remove all of them from the list after making each visit, somehow all of 500 places are automatically back in the list after a couple of months, and each of these 500 icon makes a huge mess on my map just like how you see in the screenshot that I attached in the previous post.

I think your problem has been mentioned before, as I recall it was also a user making very long lists.
I don’t know how to find the link. Sorry.
Would you be able to test/check if shorter lists are exhibiting the bug also? Maybe lists shorter that 128 or 256 places are just fine.

@AngieYC @MortenCopenhagen thank you guys for looking into this issue.
I am not 100% sure, but it seems like only one of my lists is affected with this issue, and the list is a private one. Other private lists do not seem to be affected as far as I have checked briefly.

and at that time, I did not really know what was going wrong, but I now know more about what is happening and I explained probably better in my last post in this thread.
I have never put this list public before because it is just for me to explore the places I have never visited before.
