Places and people through food

Ever since I started traveling outside of my town with my parents as I was a child, I enjoyed the different foods of the places I visited. The cuisine of the valleys in the Italian Alps, the sliced wild boar meat from Sardinia, the Tuscan wines and meats - all these tastes and flavors still take me back to those moments and experiences. As I grew up, I tasted Belgian beers, I enjoyed tapas in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, not to mention Ramen in Kyoto’s kiosks. I could describe places and people for hours through what I ate during those trips. It then was but a short step from those experiences to photographing and sharing the food I have in a place.

Being able to share my food experience or find places with dishes the match my expectations has become part of what I like doing. I find it very useful to read the reviews and see the photos taken by others, so that I can better find my bearings and choose that particular place that is eligible to create a beautiful memory and experience for me. I have realized how looking for photos and reviews of a place has become a routine in recent months while working in China.

Not having up-to-date information on places or their exact location was quite frustrating and limiting.

While writing this post, I realized that maybe I’m a glutton, but frankly I do not care, I like going places, photographing what I eat, saying what I think and whether the food is worth it to come back over and over again or recommend it to friends.

So what do you think? Do you like sharing photos of food for the same reason, or for any other reason?

Let me know about you, so that we can compare our experiences.

Bye!
