Before my coming to the city of my dream, I was obsessed even more than usually with “the view places”, starting with the hotels and finishing with the viewpoints in general. But in Rio there are noooo problems about this… You get up little bit higher near the harbor or any beach and you feel like in heaven!
This time in particular, before chosing the “right hotel with the exeptional view” I checked every place and every picture from every room. Then I checked the reviews in Google Maps and the quarter view in Google Earth to make sure it is the best location in terms of safety and facilities, just in case.
And… when I arrived to the hotel, which, according to my research had the best panoramic view from its rooms, it even overcame my expectations, cause the view from my room was like on the most beautiful postcards I have ever seen. So I did a set of picture from several corners in different time of the day and that was for the first time in my life when I realised an urgent need for a professional camera ))) The view was fantastic!!!
The only one thing that the quarter, the hotel belonged to, was mentioned as Santa Teresa, center. But indeed my street, was going from the center up to favelas and the hotel actually was almost in the middle of the favelas :)). When I took the taxi from the airport at 6 am I saw police from two sides of the narrow streets and I understood that something is wrong here. In the evenings when I took the taxi back to the hotel I saw on the Google Maps that the road they took was much longer then Googe proposed and the reason was the same, the favelas surrounding :).
In reality, dispite the common reviews about favelas, if you don’t stroll around right in the favelas alone, nor approach to their homes, you can feel absolutely safe, taking the taxi, car, and even visiting favelas with the local tour guide cause they know the rules of this community.
To conclude, my stay in that hotel, surrounded by favelas, was absolutely gorgeous because of the amazing view from my room so that I almost didn’t want to leave ))).
That view was the best in my whole life for now!
