In my area there are many private homes listed as shops or businesses. Look at this place for example, there are no business premises here (see street view - it’s a residential street).
According to Google policy, it should be removed *'…*because it is private and doesn’t allow public visitors. This includes personal places with no reception desks or public entrances.’ This place clearly has no reception desk or public interest - it is most likely the owner’s home, and it is of no use to the customer to know where the owner lives.
However, when I edit-close/remove this place, the response is *'*Google couldn’t verify your edit’.
This has actually happened to me a lot: Private homes with no visitor reception facilities or useful reason to be marked on the map.
How can I submit evidence to support these submissions?
“Profile Storefront versus service-area businesses If your business doesn’t have a storefront with clear signage but travels to customers at their physical locations, you’re allowed one service-area Business Profile”
This claimed business seems to serve / provide service on the Locations of the customers so, according to the already mentioned guidelines, can be in Google Maps
The question would be if they provide services also at their business location or not. It seems to me that this business might serve customers only at their locations, in which case they would need to setup a service area, which they have not done so far, and hide the street address.
The business appears not to have any premises, but rather performs it’s function at the clients location.
The listed address is a private home, presumably that of an employee or owner. Its presence on the map serves no useful purpose to Google Maps users or customers of the business (the only purpose it serves is free advertising for the business) … And for that reason, I think, it needs to be removed.
“you should hide your address” is what GMB says, and setup a service area, I definitely agree, @magrippa .
In fact they should setup more than one area, according to their website.
What we don’t know is if they receive customers in there.
However, as the business is claimed, the inquiry should be addressed/reported to GMB@clustertussock
Honestly it is quite difficult for a Local Guide to remove a claimed place from Maps, especially if there are a lot of reviews, received in the latest four years, and if the address is the same that is declared in their website. In fact all these “digital Footprints” will deny your edit
It seems to me it would be too harsh a penalty to delete the business profile of a legitimate business because they have not created a service area business.
