It was a very rare, unique opportunity to see an almost empty rooms of the Mieczysław Karłowicz Philharmonic Orchestra of the city of Szczecin, Poland. It is the new building (2015) and it was awarded the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture. And we can say that is a well deserved award!
What strikes the most is that at every stage of moving around you can clearly see how easy it is to move on a wheelchair, or with a stroller. We checked that literally every place can be reached by people with disabilities and in special cases they can even remove the chairs from front rows (!) to make more space. The VIP room is silenced, but with a window to allow special guest to have a conversation during an event.
We work at Coloplast and ever since Google launched the campaign to promote places accessible for people on wheelchairs, we made #LocalGuides (#LokalniPrzewodnicy) a part of our mission, to help people with disabilities. The fact that the place was not only well prepared, but perfectly prepared to make their life easier, made this meet-up even more unique
