In my area they are collected together with the paper, and then they are washed and managed automatically by the waste collection company according to colour and weigh, to separate different types of paper.

Hi @SilvyC@Ermest: thanks for your help. If such boxes are clean, they can be seen as old paper, but in most of the cases they are dirty. By putting them in special bins the dirty ones can be sorted out and be handled as needed. In the current situations, they are stuffed in the public bins or people deliver them to the old paper (but if they are dirty, they should be seen as another type of trash). So, by collecting them in special bins they can be sorted correctly and you also can avoid that other bins are becoming places of rat collecting zones.
Great post @KattyGeltmeyer . This one is really interesting.
Sadly, there is no such trash bin in my city Mumbai. Hoping that soon the municipality officials will implead such facilities in mumbai also. It will really help us to make our city untidy.
Interesting phenomenon indeed @KattyGeltmeyer and really helpful that you included the link to the newspaper article (although that might apparently have triggered the spam filter ). The main problem seems to be indeed that quite a few of the pizzaboxes that are thrown away still contan parts of pizza…
@KattyGeltmeyer Thank you very much for providing information about the initiative of placing dedicated bins for pizza boxes in Diepenbeek. this trial project seems promising, and the evaluation after the winter will provide valuable insights into its effectiveness. It’s a commendable step toward maintaining the cleanliness of public spaces and addressing specific waste challenges associated with popular local businesses.
