Pink Salt Works in Port Alma, Queensland, Australia 4699

This area is around an hour drive from where I live. You cant see the vivid colour and scale of this on the ground. I used a DJI Air2s drone to take these photos.

Situated on the pristine coastline of the Coral Sea, Olsson’s Salt Works takes advantage of the region’s abundant seawater resources. The company follows a traditional and time-tested method known as solar evaporation to produce their salt. This process involves collecting seawater in a series of shallow evaporation ponds, where the sun’s heat and wind work in harmony to gradually reduce the water content and leave behind pure salt crystals. Not only that, an aerial perspective shows the colourful textures and scale of the area.

Visitors to Olsson’s Salt Works can explore the picturesque salt flats, where they can witness the mesmerising process of salt crystallisation firsthand. The facility also offers educational tours, providing visitors with insights into the rich history and significance of salt production in the region.

It’s from Halobacteria and they are part of a branch of archaea called the ‘methanogens’ If microbes were spices, methanogens would be the pepper to the halobacterial salt.

@Teana_K que increíble, en Argentina tenemos los campos de salinas al norte del país. Y son lugares increíbles.
