Picturesque Delft!

Last year, after having a hard year of finding job, finally after settling down I decided to treat myself with a Euro-trip. With Limited vacation (and budget too! :P), I decided to visit some of the beautiful yet unexplored gems of Europe. It was hard to decide which destinations to include since Europe is filled with beautiful and mesmerizing towns and cities. After a lot of discussion with my fellow friends from Europe, hundreds of travel blog post reads, I decided to start my vacation from Netherlands.

Delft, Netherlands: After some 9 hour journey from Chicago, I finally hopped off in Amsterdam, one of busiest yet amazing Airport with tons of shops and stores I was already getting into my vacation mood. I was hoping it will be difficult for me to find the train ticket booths and train station, but it was the opposite. The station is situated just below the airport and the booths are language friendly which was the major deal for me.

After getting tickets and hopping on the train, I was set to arrive at delft in around 50 mins. I was very excited about this vacation and delft being my first destination since I was also giving surprise visit to a friend who lives there.

I arrived at delft around dutch breakfast time and it was just getting started. The small town is so Picturesque just what I was expecting and it just took me to another level of excitement. Without wasting more time, I started clicking pictures and started to walk to my friends apartment to blow her mind. Every corner has the medieval architecture which just takes you to different dimension. Small canals along the houses, bicycles running around tiny streets local breakfast and coffee aroma lingering everywhere, each and every minute was welcoming you with something new.

Having spent 3 days in delft, I visited every corner of the beautiful small town. I enjoyed Christmas Choir in the Nieuwe Church on the Christmas eve, had local invite for authentic dutch dinner at a local family I met at the market. Every day of those 3 days I spent in delft made me forget my problems, relieved my stress and were very relaxing.

I would recommend eveyone who is visiting Netherlands to not ignore this beautiful small town and relax every bit of it while you are there.

Trust me, Its totally worth it!
(P.S : Please rotate some of these images, Google automatically changed its orientation to landscape.)

Hi @chaitanyacr7 ,

Welcome to Connect.

Thank you for sharing your adventure with us. I admire your inspiration not to take things for granted and to look at the positive side of life.

I have never visited the Netherlands, for which I hope would be fulfilled as soon as possible. Although, I would totally recommend you to visit Germany, especially Nuremberg. You may find historical architecture as well as really stunning sights you may find for photography.

Thank you for sharing this amazing story, @chaitanyacr7 and welcome to Connect.

It’s an adventure to visit the Netherlands every time, indeed. Last time I was there I lost a passport two days before departure and I wasn’t very sure if I was making it back. I had luck coming across understanding good people.

Hi @sonnyNg

I am currently creating a list of the best photo spots in Nuremberg. I read that you recommend Nuremberg as a target for photographers. Do you have any advice?

Greetings Ludwig.

Hi @LudwigGermany ,

That sounds great!

From what I could remember, I have been impressed the most by the great structure of the city walls which was used as defensive mechanism of the city.

I would recommend checking out the St. Sebaldus church, as well as the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg, as I was amazed by the structure and preservation of the historical sights.

It should be checked for the schedule, as I would also recommend checking the Main market of Nuremberg, for it’s vibrant specter of color you may find there. : ]
