Pictures from my morning walk during lockdown in a time of COVID-19

In South Africa our lockdown regulations were changed on Friday last week and we are now allowed to go out for a walk or jogging in the mornings between 6am and 9am. I am presently in an area called the karoo which is inland and normally quite dry, almost semi desert like. We had some rain recently and the plants are coming to life again… almost in the same way as the country trying to find its feet again after the total lockdown. I will share some of the pictures taken on my morning walk for you to see what a beautiful place the karoo is… put it on your list of places to visit…

As the clouds reflect on the water and the light just plays along to create a beautiful mirage like image …

A great place to play when you are a child… a railway bridge crossing… who knows where the train can take you…

The hill in the distance being lit up by the morning sun

A railway crossing being lit up by the sun early morning

One still finds telephone lines in this part of the world … the way we used to be connected in our lives …

A worm making its way across the road… looking like a zebra …

Hi @DanielJohn ,

Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures with us! I find the landscape very fascinating, I would definitely love to visit the Karoo National Park one day, are you far from it?

I am tagging our @AlexaAC , who’s South African and I am sure she will enjoy your photos too! If you want you can take a look at some of her posts about your country:

Thank you for the response to my post. Karoo National Park is about 200km away from here. It is in the same area although they have a slightly drier climate. It is also a beautiful place though. They have vast open plains between the mountains, one can see into infinity and the sunsets are breathtaking.

Hi @DanielJohn ,

Welcome on Connect!

Lovely photos of the Karoo, thanks! One of my favourite memories is visiting Baviaanskloof. Have you ever been?

Hello @AlexaAC Thank you for the response and yes I know about Baviaanskloof and I agree it is a truly magical place. This is what makes South Africa such a great country, the diversity in our nature scenery. Everyone should visit.
