A picture describes thousand words. But in Google Maps pictures are given only 5 points, where a review, no matter how big or small, is given a full 10 points. Even a review in two words can earn 10 points. But a pictures value is only 5 points, no matter how beautiful, useful, informative it is. So until Google lift up the value of pictures, here are some idea of what Local Guides can do with pictures -
- Add as many pictures as possible with review.
- When visit a place or business, take many pictures with different subjects. For example, when visit a cafe or restaurant, take pictures of the business signboard, food, atmosphere, surroundings, dining area, views etc. Make it like a story where Google Map users can have a clear idea about the cafe or restaurant.
- If you are unable to write detailed review, which gives extra points, add plenty of pictures. In that way you can still manage to earn more points.
- Use smartphone as the primary device for taking pictures. Take plenty of pictures, upload them with review. Once the review is submitted, delete pictures from phone. Your pictures are saved and secured in Google Maps, there is no need to keep those in phone. Free phone memory for more pictures. Happy days…
