Picture upload itself

Hello everyone,

I hope someone could explain to me if this was normal. Today, I just woke up and found this. Apparently, a photo that I uploaded 2 days ago being uploaded today.

Also, does Google map limits amount of pictures we can upload weekly/monthly? I noticed that all those 3 dots combined is exactly 100. (Multiple locations)

Hi @Momo1122

It is not 100 exactly but 99 only :joy:

There is no limit on how many photos you can upload, but make sure they are good and helpful photos.

Only 99 can be shown on the graph. I complained about this here.

What do you mean about a photo being uploaded days ago and only showing up today. Was it uploaded repeatedly?

Cheers

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

Oh. It showed 100 for me.

The thing is I have uploaded more than 100 photos. I believe on may 1st I uploaded 50 pictures and may 2nd 79 pictures. I didn’t upload anything on may 3rd. I noticed that when I uploaded more than 100 pictures, the view stops despite coming from various locations. (To clarify, when I say 100 photos , I meant I posted 5-10 pictures on each location, hours apart, a complete different reviews). It’s been more 48 hours, those picture views haven’t increased sightly, not even 1. That’s why I wondered if there was a limit on number of Google photo contribution.

I uploaded that photo 2 days ago along with other photos, however, today, that one specific photo was uploaded. I double checked, it wasn’t a duplicate upload. It was really odd to see a photo randomly by itself, that picture I took was when I went to China, and I’m currently on Philadelphia.

Please don’t mind me for asking many questions and details. I’m new at this and recently become an active local guide. I’m still figuring how this work beside the rules. I tried to Google the answers/details and couldn’t find any, so I turned here for help.

Hi @Momo1122

All questions are welcome.

I only saw 99 - now I believe you. Thanks.

If you edited a review on May 3rd and a photo belong to that review, it might explain what you are seeing. Or it could be a glitz.

When photos don’t get views it is worth checking if they are shown under the pin.

Next you need to reflect on the helpfulness of your photos.

Considering how good your photos generally are you are not getting many views.

Go study what kind of photos get features or even vecome the cover photo of places.

A few of your photos could look like they were not taken by you?

Each pic should show the place. Sone of yours are taken from very far away. That will not get you more views.

I would recommend you always use landscape and not portrait orientation.

Always use the feedback you get from Google Maps in the form of views and getting featured to make adjustments.

Cheers

Morten

Hi @Momo1122

There are at least a couple of explanation for a photo to appear as uploaded on the day after. When you post the photos, in fact you simply start the upload process. After that, the photos will be uploaded one by one, and the real speed of the upload can vary depending of the connection available. E.G. if you are using internet (navigation or social media) the background activities will be delayed, to prioritize what you are using in that moment (e.g. Facebook).

In addition many users wants to upload contents in Google Maps only when they are connected to Wi-Fi (see the screenshot here below). In this case the photos will be uploaded only when a Wi-Fi connection is available

Regarding the note by @MortenCopenhagen about your photos, I would like only to add a small note. Please check all your photos when posting, avoiding to post duplicates, and to post the same photo in more than a location. This is prohibited by the Community policy :

  • “Take photos that clearly and accurately represent a location …**”
  • “Dark, blurry, and redundant photos will be removed. Users who duplicate photos across locations, … will also be removed.”

You are sharing very good photos, and it would be sad to have an issue due to a lack of knowledge of the rules
