Ovad Patimokkha was a sermon given by the Buddha to his disciples i.e. the monks at Venuvan. Ovad Patimokkha summarizes the basic Buddhist teachings including the ideal goal of Buddhism, its principles and the path to liberation through moral ethics, concentration and wisdom. The importance of ethical conduct and discipline within the monastic order was highlighted. Ovad Patimokkha is practiced in the month of Magha as this festival celebrates the Buddha’s attainment of enlightenment and the beginning of the Buddhist year.

The Buddha Throne where the white marble inscribed with the Ovada patimokkha a symbolic seat which is privileged to preach the brief summary of all the Buddha’s teachings. The divine Heart of Buddhism from Kridhakuta Mountain, serve as a symbol that the Buddha resided in this sacred place means Veluvana Mahavihara for five Rains Retreat periods. Hence it’s also considered a pilgrimage among the Buddhist world.

Ven. Guruji Arayawangso and Buddhist devotees, Thais and Indians, collaborated in the creation of the Phra Maha Dhammacetiya during the Rains Retreat 2557 BE means in 2014 AD which only happened once in the Buddha’s era and is considered the greatest noble merits for perpetuating Buddhism for an eternity.

On Mahapavarana Day 8th October 2014 AD Their Majesties King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the Queen of Bhutan came to pay homage to the Phra Ovada patimokkino Dhammacetiya with Ven, Gurujl Arayawangso leading the homage ceremony, and offered alms to him.
In Rajgir this Phra Ovada Patimokkha situated in Veluvana or Venuvana also known as Bamboo groove is a Buddhist pilgrimage and popular tourists attraction.
