Photos & Camera stuff

I want to know what makes a 12mega pixel camera designed by Apple so Superior to all these Android 12mega pixel cameras? I can say that the iPhone is definitely the king of photography amoug others without a doubt.

Hi @Brockus we don’t need a brand war here thanks. Please don’t incite one with a my brand is better than your brand.

I would disagree that the latest iPhone camera is obviously better than the latest Pixel or Galaxy Note - to everyday users, both brands will offer a similar quality if you’re looking to spend the same amount across both models. Personally, from the tech reviewers that I follow, most seem to prefer the Pixel 2 thanks in part to Google’s outstanding post-processing and use of HDR. However, I would be more than happy to use either my Pixel 2XL or an iPhone 8/X to shoot with.

However ‘Android’ cameras is somewhat vague, as megapixels don’t tell the whole story - a 12mp camera on a $300 camera based on Android is not going to stack up with that of the latest Apple, and this is due to a number of other factors - image stabilisation, post-processing, colour accuracy, sensor size, etc.

A Motorola G5 (13mp) won’t match the iPhone X (12mp) despite both similar cameras being similar on the surface - but the Moto G5 also only costs around $150. Ultimately you choose the best camera you can for the budget you can afford, and then it’s down to you to make the most of it - you can have the best camera in the world, but without the ability to compose your shots, it really doesn’t matter.

Oh @Nathan89 you are so right. If you put a £800 camera phone in the wrong hands, he or she is not going to take a better photo than someone who knows what they are doing using a £200 camera phone. It really is down to the person and how they use it.
