There’s a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words and for me, delicious photos of food evokes a primal emotion of yum!
For me, it’s the best way to show how mouthwatering dishes are at restaurants and how great the fruits and vegetables are at farmers markets.
I take all my pictures with my phone because it is so handy, I make sure to take photos of highest quality and edit them to look their best. I use my Pixel 3 and it does a great job at capturing the colours of food. Obviously, newer digital cameras do a better job, but you don’t always have them with you when you go to a restaurant or a store. I like to get up close and personal with the food, trying to capture all the details and ingredients. I take multiple pictures from different angles so I can pick what looks best. I edit and color correct them so that they have the correct brightness and contrast as well as enough detail shown so you can see the quality of the food. You should almost be able to taste it by just looking at the dishes.
I also add just a little saturation because too much color makes everything look fake. Always make sure you have enough light when taking the picture because no one will look at the dark photos. Most of the time flash does not work with indoor lighting because the flash color tends to look bluish while the indoor lighting is yellowish and the area closest to the flash may get too bright.
If your camera has a good night photo option, that usually works best for low lighting situations. If your pictures don’t look good, I would suggest not using them because chances are, no one will want to look at low quality photos. This is my local guides tip. Cheers!
