Thanks to fellow local guides, photography is my new way of life both as a beneficiary and contributor.
If I want to visit a new place, I look at what fellow photographers have stated about the place, I look at the photos and also the surrounding environment.
Google maps have made it easy to access any location nowadays, unlike the old times when getting anywhere was a hustle.
Even though some parts of Kenya are inaccessible through maps, we are all slowly taking photos and sharing these places as we visit.
A place like Kibera informal settlement has always received bad publicity from the stereotypes people have, but now, when we visit various parts of this huge home to many Kenyans, we get to show the side of Kibera that is vibrant and homely through our photographs.
This is the case with several estates within Nairobi, Local Guides change people’s perceptions through photos we all share on Google maps, as a community which I am proud to be a part of.
