I’m sharing pictures of buildings and signs. Some get a lot of views, at least I think 15,000 is a lot in a few weeks for a small used car lot. Others get only a few views a day. I’m not finding a pattern. Any thoughts?
Your photo views are primarily accrued based on what exactly people are looking for. For example, if it is a Saturday or Sunday in the Summer here in NY, you can almost always count on people that are searching for farmers markets, beaches or places to have brunch. People may also search reviews without taking the time to look at photos or leave likes.
Hello @KhakiStorm
Two key factors contribute to the number of photo views.
- Usefulness and popularity of the place - You can evaluate that from the number of reviews
- Ranking of your photo in the overall stack. A good quality pic may get featured & then continue to accumulate the views.
Besides, the newest contribution may get classified under “latest photos” and grab some quick views.
Thank you. The photos are mostly the only photos of these places, besides a street view, or the best quality photo of the place. Either way, they usually become the featured photo.
You say they don’t have to look at the picture in a search result, but it still displays on their screen, correct?
Hi @KhakiStorm
Correct.
Be aware that there is a big difference on the position of your photo
-
position 1 is the Cover photo and will be displayed If you see the location on maps or the Google search
-
position 2-4 (sometimes 5) are the caroussel photo and is displayed If you open a location in maps.
-
position 5 and following are only displayed if you open all photos of a location
Thus, try to get the most relevant photo of a location and you will be in the first positions. That counts!

Tassilo
The model will never find it @KhakiStorm
Some pictures are promoted from certain locations put by certain users, probably the algorithms know what to promote.
I followed the public advice of a moderator, who expels that if you take pictures at the Cimena and places where Swarovski appears you will surely have a lot of views.
I don’t think you want to know how many views I have at the moment in those pictures.
You need to be aware that locations are a business and need advertising, if you want many views I think you need to take new pictures and at claimed locations.
thanks
I’m not looking for a lot of views as my goal. It makes sense that claimed location will get more views. I’m actually focused on unclaimed places and even adding places as needed. I just want to understand why some pictures have more than others.
