Photo Submission Not Published - Any Bugs?

Dear Connect Moderators,

Since yesterday (June 2, 2023) 21:00 hour IST I am facing some problem with my Google Map profile.

My image submissions are not appearing for public. Photos with clearly visibility and without any watermark, but still not appearing for public.

Is there any website maintenance going on or is it some kind of bugs?

Should I delete those images and re-upload those again?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @DibyayanC

Now and then there are some delays. So I would recommend you wait a couple of days before you try to delete and reupload.

I just tested uploading a single photo. And so far it also did not go public. This can happen, so we can not (yet?) conclude if there is a universal bug.

Others please report if you experience the same.

Cheers

I can see 100 + photos uploaded by you on the last 24 hours (some also quite inappropriate), but of course I don’t know how many photos you uploaded on the last day.

Yes, photos are going under moderation too.

If a photo is the first photo of a place, it will appear only after a few days.

In addition, if the photos are attached to a review, and the review has been made private by the filter, the attached photos are not public visible too.

As you have several hidden reviews, this can also be the reason

Hi @ErmesT

I haven’t posted any inappropriate photos, I can guarantee you that. All the photos are taken at the particular places.

When you post 3-4 photos of the same subject with the same view, and just a different zoom, this is inappropriate, @DibyayanC , because we can get more details just zooming the photo.

This violation is defined as redundancy, and can end in the removal of the photos.

Google consider this behaviour like a trick to gain more points, without adding any additional information about the place. Same when you and several photos of the same dish. A good practice would be to shoot several photos and select ONLY the best one for adding it on Maps.

Hope this clarifies the meaning of “inappropriate”

Just now I have uploaded four photos, none of those went live for the public.

How long it’ll go like this?

Since it’s weekend now I guess it could be fixed Monday or Tuesday.

Hola buen día tengo tiempo realizando servicios para ayudar a las plataformas de Google maps pero ahora no me están dejando subir fotos 360 o ninguna imagen en google maps de ninguna cuenta.

Yesterday I uploaded some photos which are not updated on that business. The photos are showing in my contribution but not showing when I have checked with another’s phone even the photos are not showing on that business I have uploaded it should be seen in the latest pictures. Earlier photos which I uploaded have the same issue. What is the solution to that?

Hello all, very odd. The last two days, I have added about 12 new photos at the Century Westfield mall and not a single one is public. They are all typical photos of the stores like I have done 10, 000 times. Very very strange. Anyone experiencing this? Anyone have any clues.

I was not sure where to post this topic, so move it if it needs moving, but this is alarming. Never experienced this before.

Photos are now moderated too, @StevenBerlin , and in some case may appear after a couple of days (e.g. if the photo is the first photo of a place).

If the photos are attached to a review, and the review is made private (you have two private reviews) the photos will be hidden too.

If a photo do not appear after a couple of days you can ask for a check of your account, by filling the form shared in this post: An update on how we moderate Google Maps reviews

Thanks for the quick reply @ErmesT

I think I out it now in how toos :slightly_smiling_face:

Still seems strange just 3 days ago added new photos and all were public instantly. When did this change of all photos being moderated happen? Thx again

Hi @StevenBerlin

There is a bug at play here. Also, all 360 images have not been processed. I will move your post to the thread about this problem.

Cheers Morten

Thank you both @MortenCopenhagen and other mods for helping out. It appears I am not the only one affected by this, so it must be some issue on Google’s end. I did report my problem already, but i am going to wait along with everyone else to hopefully figure out what the issue was and in hopes they are resolved. Thanks for moving my post to the appropriate place as well. I am glad you mods and helpful souls are so good at this :slightly_smiling_face: I will keep checking back on this topic. It’s nice to see helpful people here. Cheers!

This morning the system is up and running again.

I saw this reported by the owner of GoThru and other communications. Also, I did test this by deleting my test image and reuploading it. It went public immediately.

From this, we can not conclude that we need to do this to all images uploaded over the weekend. Waiting might also work. Up to you and your impatience.

All the best

Morten

Hi all.

@MortenCopenhagen

In my testing this morning some good news and some bad. Lol.

If I post a new photo, UT seems to go public, which is great. However, the two photos which were private, I deleted them, then reposted, and they didn’t even make it to site. Neither public or private. Nowhere. Not sure what’s up with that. I waited 30 minutes checking a few times, no joy on those which were originally posted 2 days ago.

I do not recall uploading pics that don’t show up privately = in our photos contribution list. Most likely it could be connection issues. I’m sorry I have no idea what could cause this.

When the spam filter blocks a user from uploading any pics they still show privately.

Hello again @MortenCopenhagen

Just wanted to make sure this info of mine is shared. I have now done this step 3 different times with 3 different locations. All photos that were uploaded before and marked private, I deleted them, then proceeded to re-upload them again. None of them show up at all. Not private, not public, simply not processed. They are in nowhere land. I thought this was useful info to share, so I am making a final post about it. Thx again.
