Photo removed after 131,000 views without explanation

Hi

I recently noticed that some of my most popular photos from a few different locations have been “removed”. They are still in my list of contributed photos, but they are marked with an exclamation mark and a description telling me that they violate policies, but without any further explanation. There’s literally nothing on these photos that could violate anything. They’re all photos of animals in nature. The most popular one is an otter jumping from land to water, and it had more than 131,000 views before it was suddenly - and without explanation - marked as inappropriate.

Does anyone know of any way to have a human re-review the photos?

Thanks for your input!

Best regards,

Asbjørn

Hello @Baago ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Please know that Google Maps will remove photos that do not follow the rules. Please review the guidelines here: Link.

Additionally, actions unrelated to your photos may also trigger the spam filter. If you believe you haven’t violated any rules mentioned in the provided link, your only recourse is to use the “Account Investigation” form for contributions not visible on Google Maps. Keep in mind that the investigation process may take several weeks, and you won’t receive notification of the outcome.

Hej @Baago

In addition to what @Ivi_Ge shared I would like to add the following after viewing your photos.

The technical quality if your photos is out standing. But you are unlikely familiar with the guidelines for photos on Google Maps. You uploaded a lot of redundant otter photos. If you leave only the most viewed one it might go public again (no guarantees).

I also noticed a photo with two people posing for the camera. Such family/private photos should not be on Maps.

Finally, avoid sharing photos of children with recognizable faces.
