Photo only shown in "by you" if the business listing is owned

I contributed a bunch of photos today to different listings. And I saw something new to me.

My photos were shown in the “by you” category up top among the photos, but not among the photos that can be seen by others if the business listing was owned.

In some cases, it migrated to the shown photos fairly quickly and in some cases they’re still not shown. And one such listing I’ve never succeeded in getting a photo shown, but others have, after I submitted one. I suspect the lack of photos (only two shown from local guides) is due to the management of the page.

Do you guys know more about this development?
If it continues being shown in “by you” but not in the public section, should I eventually remove it?

In my personal opinion (correct me if I am wrong tagging a Connect Moderator @ErmesT who is very expert in this field), the “by you” labelled is just for us to make it easy to classify those are our contribution but it does not affect others to see when they look under photos.

The thing that I don’t understand is, is it based on the time of the contribution (newer to older) or based on the views to determine our photos listed on the top or buried way back
of their collection.

I love the “by you” part, it is the first thing I check to know what photos I have contributed to that business.

I may misunderstood your point, if it is my apology @Annie4real

Hello @Annie4real if you want to find out, whether a photo is public and can be seen by others, click the Share button, copy the link and paste it into an anonymous (a.k.a. private) browser session without logging into Google.

In the past, if my photo was not public, it would not appear in the “by you” category. I had added an update to one POI 8 months ago that was never shown in by you and never in the list of photos. It is now shown in the “by you”. So something has changed. I would like to know how far it goes.

Checking back today, all my photos are now in “Latest” except that one POI I never succeeded placing a photo on.

I believe the POI owners now have more control over which photos will be shown publicly, if they choose that setting, or the POIs where the image showed up immediately were not owned.

And that ONE POI is maintained by someone who’s (in my not so humble opinion) rather clueless.

Next time I’ll do some interiors and see if that helps.

And I’ll remove my latest attempt. Nothing I can do about an owner who doesn’t understand the value of photos.

Can anyone verify my theories based on ownership of a POI?
