Perspective of Pedestrians as Undefined Spaces to A City

Undefined spaces are so important for us, people who live in communities around the world. We are not only need spaces which used with specific function, but also spaces which allow us to define them by our personal experiences. I think it is important for our civilization, because undefined spaces express the freedom to act and speak as long as they’re accepted by the norms of community where we’re living.

Pedestrians are good example of undefined space in every cities in the world. I like to capture many undefined spaces in my city. Most of them are pedestrians. I think people including myself must understand the role of pedestrians as undefined spaces.

They’re not only walkable spaces for people, but also interaction spaces for people with their surrounding. Thinking where we want to go or just enjoying city’s life and traffics are the example of activities we can do on pedestrians. Even mindful discussions about recent issues with friends can be done on pedestrians. Children find these spaces as their explorative space and couples would find them romantic. The truth is, we can find many people’s activities on pedestrians.
