So what, in actuality, is being offered as a perk, for being a local Google Guide? Because as I see it, Google is getting their work done for free by us. Lemmings we all are.
Note that the Local guides program is a Voluntary program and Perks are gifts given to guides.
See more below:
As a Local Guide, you earn points for sharing reviews, photos and knowledge on Google Maps. Those points lead to higher levels of the programme as well as benefits such as early access to Google features and special perks from partners. At Level 4, you also unlock your first Local Guides badge, which helps your contributions to places get noticed.
Make sure you’ve signed up for updates by reviewing your email preferences on your Local Guides settings page.
The Local Guide Program is a volunteer program, except what I find great is sharing with other local guides in the world and knowing their cultures
Thanks already past level 4 and no offer or perk to speak of.
I didn’t get any perks until I reached level 6. I didn’t even know perks existed until I got an email about one being unlocked.
I
just very small extra incentives. Not something anyone should make into a full time job to accomplish, but the more someone contributes, the more likely to receive “better” perks…and be chosen to visit the headquarters.
@Cam_Honey Well I have volunteered for the Programm not for perks
@Cam_Honey I have volunteered local guide program not for perks but to make the worlld a better place where one get the benefits of my experience and vice-versa.
That’s wonderful for you.
@Cam_Honey This program is a volunteer program and we all contribute to help other people in the world.
I don’t know much about perks, i just contribute because i love to help others and it makes me happy.
Well
Some of us don’t have time for it without actual incentives, especially when they are out actually helping the world in real ways. But google obviously didn’t like my descriptive next post, which said if for every point we have, we donated a penny to google, most of us would have already donated $600 or more to google. We’d be paying them, but it’s not fair to ask for something back? They deleted my next post which went on to say that Google is a for-profit company and all of the ways they could give us perks without any loss to themselves. Obviously, this company is money hungry and that’s disappointing to me.
That’s very sweet of you. Keep that attitude for as long as you can.
@Cam_Honey Yes most of the organisation are to make profits and GOOGLE having a huge set up Defiantly makes profits but in the bargain Who’s Getting benefits millions a restaurant / cafes/ doctors saloons Malls and etc etc etc gets business and make their living.its a win win situation for all.
I feel you are correct Bashir. Thank you for your support.
@Cam_Honey @LeaveGugleMap who knows google may announce good perks in near furture, till then keep exploring and keep inspiring. its a good saying in Indian NEKI KAR DARYA ME DAAL.
