I am a solo traveler, a solo traveler everywhere, both when I am making one of my journeys around the world and when, back at home, I need to unwind. Yes, because traveling is not just about discovering different places, it’s also a way to take a break from daily routine. In both cases, I found that my experience had something extra when I managed to find the right place to answer my needs of the moment, whether it was eating something good or finding a space where I could work a couple of hours or reading a good book while drinking a cup of coffee… It was like being at home and on holidays at the same time. That is why I started to let Google local guides inspire me with their reviews and turned to be a proud Google local guide myself.
Local life can be so adventurous and that around the world so homey, and I love showing both aspects of “my places”. I usually post pictures of every place I go, general pictures but also original points of view so that people can guess what pictures don’t tell (good and bad smells, for instance, or noise). Most of times I also deliver a detailed descriptive review to give readers an idea of what their experience could be (or which was mine, if especially bad or good) so to let them understand if it is the sort of experience they are looking for in that moment.
But the thing I like most as a Google local guide is to find new places to eat, drink, listen to music or just relax with a book where you can spend quality time even on your own, places where if you are alone people will be friendly without being intrusive, and above all will not look at you as if you were an alien or an easy prey: in short, the perfect places for solo travelers.
