In the early days, having a business on Google Maps wasn’t a big deal for many in Bangladesh, especially in my city, Rajshahi. Most people focus first on Facebook or other social media platforms when bringing their business online. Google Maps was often considered automatic and not very important.
But things have changed. And I’ve personally seen this change through some recent experiences.
I joined a gym recently. The staff noticed me taking photos and were very curious. I found out they actually care deeply about their reviews on Google Maps. They regularly read each review and try to improve their service based on them.
I was invited to a pizza shop owned by someone I know for a meal. After eating, the owner kindly requested everyone leave their honest feedback on Google Maps and even encouraged us to take photos of the new interior. It showed me how seriously businesses are taking their online presence today.
Another friend of mine runs a juice bar. He replies to every review on Google Maps and believes this has increased views and engagement with his business. He enjoys the process and sees it as a fun and valuable part of running his business.
These are just a few examples, but I’ve had many such experiences. More people are contacting me to help add their business to Google Maps. Some even paid others for something they could easily do themselves. I always try to guide them and explain that it’s free and simple.
As a Local Guide and regular contributor to Google Maps, I am thrilled to see this growing awareness and interest. It motivates me to keep helping more people understand the power of Maps and how it can support their business journey.
I have intentionally not mentioned the names of the businesses to avoid any conflict of interest. My goal is to share the experience, not promote any specific place.
