I can follow guide profiles of my friends and family but they are unable to follow me. Why is that? I restarted the app, updated the app, cleared cache and even logged in again. Please help me regarding this.

I have never seen the “Only certain profiles can be followed” message before.
From your public Maps profile I can confirm that others can not chose to follow you.
Maybe you need to make more contributions first.

Ok I will try and travel more and contribute more to see if it works thank you 
. However one of my friend’s with only 2 reviews can get followers.

It could be a random delay in getting all profiles included in the follow function.
No need to travel. We can photograph and review places close to home also.

That’s usually because all the privacy prompts by Google maps were not accepted. Check your privacy settings to make sure you accepted all the permissions suggested by Google maps.

All working now I got a message yesterday saying now people can follow me.everyone who has this issue should also try to email the google maps help team as well.thank you @Fnazs and @MortenCopenhagen for your support and help
