Pegman on Vacation

Over a little more than a year ago when I somehow gathered the courage to write the very first post on Connect, it felt Iike I’m in a whole new world, for everything on this platform was new for me. From people to the posts!

Time passed by and all those unfamiliar elements like the people and the posts began to look familiar, more acquainted and it felt much better. The familiarity relatively deepened when I came back from CL2019, this platform was homier and more welcoming.

In retrospect, (CL2019) I was given something more than special that I was yearning for, to be honest, something that I was secretly hoping to own, it was The Pegman—a perfect souvenir in every sense and I can’t be more grateful to Googlers for that.

Pegman—A token of our contribution to Google Maps as well as to Connect, that token might seem small but it does wonders to me as a Local Guide. And that’s what gave rise to this article today.

Of all the fascinating elements attributed to the Local Guides program, one truly interesting thing that I recently did was taking Pegman on a Road Trip with me and clicking pictures with it at every spot. Ever since I had been given this Pegman, I’m obsessed with it, so I decided to backpack him.

I’m not sure how you treat your gifted pegman but I treat Pegman literally like a separate entity. So hang tight and let the adventure begin-

Anecdote- On my recent vacation to the Great Smokey Mt National Park, in Tennessee, I packed Pegman along with my belongings. I’m sure Pegman too was as happy as a clam to be a part of the trip to the mountains with our Trio.

Since Pegman can’t express his happiness, I’m going to share some snapshots of what it was like for him on his behalf.

Just to give you all a proof of how happy Pegman was posing at the mountains, in the fog, with a snowman, on top of a wobbly bridge, and not to mention with the sea creatures during our visit to the Aquarium.

I’ll let you all decide, if this was one of the most interesting things I, as a Local Guide could do. Trust me, pegman loved being ”the one” for my camera. My other half was mystified all through the vacation when he finally asked- ”Is he (Pegman) going to be a part of every picture we click?”

-”Well, maybe yes”! I thought in my mind followed by a grin.

Now, all of this has come to a point where I can’t find my pictures on My phone but his! Only his! So, Let me show you what all places Pegman had been to with our Trio—

At the Great Smokey Mt National Park

At the scenic loop on a rainy day (Cades Cove)

Near the waterfall (The Sinks)

On top of the SkyBridge overlooking Space Needle

At the Sky Bridge (Skyride) on the pinnacle.

With the giant turtle at the Aquarium

At Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies

On the sidewalk, near a coffee shop (Gatlinburg)

Pegman was a bonus to the road trip, although it did take me a few extra minutes at every shot, finding a perfect spot for him to model for my pictures, I’d say it was all worth it. In the upcoming seasons, I hope to keep this spirit alive.

PS- Special thanks to @DanniS for encouraging me to use #Snapseed, all these images have been edited using the app.

Wow @ReemaGandhi ! I plan to do traveling with Pegman but I forgot to bring him, lol. I do love your story and the photos. Especially Pegman with water on his body, what’s going on? It’s raining? Or he joined you swimming?

My traveling with Pegman is only visiting Penataran Temple a few months ago. After reading your post, I’d like to travel more with him! Thanks for sharing :slightly_smiling_face:

@ReemaGandhi Lucky Mr. Pegman. The Great Smoky Mountains are beautiful. I have been there centuries ago, the memories are still with me. Good luck on your application.

Here, if you drag the Pegman into the Maps, he will change to something.
