The water collection or rainwater harvesting system of this fort are of high quality and are still functioning today. The rainwater was collected through underground channels, and stored in underground covered water tanks, which gives a unique glimpse of engineering skills.
This is Motiya Talab which is quite fascinating, probably was built for the use of the royal family members, with steps. This is square a shape pool and about 30 meters long and twenty five meters deep.
The first glimpse is mesmerizing and is enough to get a feel of royal life. This huge pool is constructed by stone masonry in two parts, bottom wall broader than the upper wall looks like an offset. Vertical walls were plastered with lime mortar. Symmetrical stairs that lead to the floor are proof of excellent architecture and workmanship.
At the mid landing on the Northern stairs one pavilion or umbrella is built, which is also square in shape and, having four stone pillars covered with bulb shaped dome. Dome is plastered with lime mortar and built on a decorated square base. Inclined stone overhangs to protect from the Sunrays. It’s just an attractive and spectacular protected monument.
This is a major attraction among the environmentalists, engineers, tourists and history buffs. Best measures were taken by the kings to manage rain water by sustainability management.
