Over the last few years, Google Maps has enhanced my life by allowing me to find and share some of the most delicious and sometimes exciting locations. Since the dawn of the internet, I have been searching. My professional career allowed me the privilege of travel and relocating to new locations. Each city that I visit becomes my ‘temporary’ home and I strive to find the best food.
I am currently pesca-vegan. Veggies, fruit, fish - no diary, pork, chicken, beef, eggs. Most people hear this and think - PoorGurl ! What DOOOOOOO you EAT ! - PLENTY - I eat plenty. If we are not eating out - we are looking for grocery stores so that we can cook at ‘home’ aka the temporary hotel/airbnb or ‘other’ with a kitchenette. Each city that we visit, using Google Maps and updating the listings, we have had no trouble traveling throughout the US south and west finding delicious bites along the way.
I am so thankful for the listings of other Guides who inspire me to make note of accessibility when seeing a new location. ADA regulations and observations are so important. My elderly grandmother and a dear friend who has one leg depending on the reviews of reviewers like myself and others to decide where to go and how easy it will be - specifically theaters and dining locations. It’s so interesting to me how many locations have little to no care to meet the needs of those who need accessibility assistance <— this has got to stop! So with a few quick comments in person and a handful online - I have seen places make slight changes that instantly make a location more inclusive.
Being a guide makes me joyful and incredibly proud of the global communities that come together to share the world in images and short stories.
