Padua, Caffè Pedrocchi.

Pedrocchi coffee in Padua is one of the oldest bars still in business, dedicated to the pouring of coffee in the world.
The presence in Padua of an international Gran Caffè is due to Antonio Pedrocchi, the famous coffee maker, quoted by Stendhal in “La certosa di Parma”. In the early 19th century, noblemen and bourgeois, intellectuals and commoners were mixed in the numerous cafés. Antonio Pedrocchi dreamed of a monumental café, with representative and functional architecture, located right in the center of the city, opposite the University and the Austrian Gendarmerie and called Giuseppe Jappelli, famous architect and engineer of Enlightenment ideas and a deep connoisseur of the Hapsburg taste which inaugurated it in 1831.
