Over looking Lake Gangaramaya from Colombo City Center at Dusk

This picture is taken in Colombo looking towards the west from the Colombo City Center building. The lake you see in front is the Gangaramaya lake. You can see one of the photos taken from a temple in this lake. There is a small island park in middle of the lake and a walking path around the lake for for a nice walk.

The soothing light and the colors of the dusk, does it gives you a mesmerizing feeling?

Hello @Batzee ,

That’s a beautiful view to Colombo City Center. And you’ve managed to capture your photo during the so called “blue hour” which makes the colours even more interesting. Is this your favourite time to take pictures?

Hey @PaulPavlinovich ,

Perhaps you are right but I always thought that “blue hour” occurs usually an hour before sunrise in the morning and after sunset in the evening. And when it comes to “golden hour”, it is the period of daytime shortly after sunrise or before sunset when the sky is redder and the light is not that bright.

Anyways, I am a newbie photographer so I am happy when the photo turns out as good as expected.

It is true that you can get golden hour at both ends of the day. Blue in the evening does happen in winter when the sun is very low in the sky around sunset often mixed with brilliant reds @MoniDi

Mind you, every time I’ve been out shooting things around sunrise/sunset its different every day, the only constant is that the sun goes up and later on goes down again.
