[Outdated] How To Create Signature For Your Local Guide Connect Profile

With High number of Questions noted here on How-To based on how to create signature to include links to your Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube channel account and and other social media platforms to make it easy to connect with mostly our local people as local guides. It was clear that there are already tutorials on YouTube and other links shared here which require external sources and coding skills, the video tutorials are outdated which were created using the old Local Guide Connect layout and also requiring coding basics.

I created a new Tutorial on 20 May 2019 which takes less than 8 minutes to watch. If you can follow these few steps you by watching the video you can have your own signature working sometime. It is not compulsory to follow the following written steps, by watching the video alone, anyone can do it, others used it and they confirmed it helpful already.

Steps to follow:

  1. Open 3 windows tabs on Local Guide Connect:

First one will be the main window were you opened your profile, My Settings, Personal Information and click on Signature where you will be pasting your final code in HTLM farmat.

  1. second window tab that is where you will be combining those codes(named TRIAL 1 from the video), after you have converted each link from your social media page. The third window tab that is were you will be pasting each link and convert it one by one(named Trial 2 from the video), example: if you choose to start with your Facebook link, convert it alone, then go to the next one, do it alone as well until you have all of them combined.

Converting text meaning: normally text here is in RICH TEXT, when you convert you click HTLM, that changes all the text to HTLM format, use that format to paste where you will be combining them. See screen short bellow.

RICH TEXT

HTLM

  1. When you are done converting the first link make sure that when pasting to Trial 1, the text format must have been changed to HTLM since you will be pasting HTLM format. Do this to all of your links. When you are done, that is when you will go to your profile, My settings, personal information, and paste all the combined links which will bein HTLM format to signature. Press save at the bottom. See screen short:

Please note: Make sure to close all the other window tabs you used to convert(Trial 2) and combine(Trial 1) your HTLM codes once you copied, pasted and saved them to personal information, so that you are left with the one you using to create your signature. After that, open another window tab, and open Local Guide Connect, go to any of your post you created before, that is where you will see you signature if you have managed to do it correctly.

You can always go back to your signature and play around with it to create a different look, make sure to copy and save it somewhere the old signature or HTLM code when ever you play around with it, so that you can always bring it back, in case you get confused along the way. I used a bold small letter(l) to separate my links between them, if you are wondering what is that black bold separation thing between my blue links.

I hope this will be helpful to you all, who wish to use this tool to make it easy to follow each other here on connect and outside. Please do not use this for unlawful acts, such as promoting your own business or other irrelevant things. We are liable for our own safety. Happy and safe Guiding!

Hi @ShakibRahman thank you for reaching out.

The post shared by @MortenCopenhagen is the correct way of adding links as your signature to your posts. Please note that this is no-longer useful since Local Guide Connect keep on improving, there were features that enabled us to do this before, these features have been removed from connect, even though others may still find a way to do this due to their programming skills and experience.

Please see the bellow screen shorts to see what has been removed from the current connect when compared to the previous version:

HTLM and rich text is not included here, not enabling us to add links to our profile signatures as we used to.

HTLM and rich text are included here which enabled us to add links to our profile signature.

I hope this will give you enough information about links and profile signatures.

Thank you.

@AbdusSattar

The signature need to be pasted on your profile in HTML code, so there is no way to create a signature without using HTML.

I suppose your issue is about how to write the HTML code.

There are a lot of different ways for doing that.

One is to follow the link suggested by @ShakibRahman

You can also find a lot of free “online HTML generator” , where you can create the code, to paste on your signature
