The stay at UDAY BACKWATER RESORT was beautiful and engaging. There are a load of activities compared to other resorts of the similar scale.
The resort is located bang on the banks of the Punnamada backwaters and presents all the exquisite views of nature’s bounty.
My wife and I checked in at noon and took an hour for rest and respite. The room was a lake-view room with a large king bed and well-furnished gears. Sanitation in the bathrooms were also up to the mark. The rooms were clean as a new pin and smelled of sanitizer solution.
We then strolled along the pathways in the campus and boarded on the bikes. A pretty impressive tour through the convoluted trails of the campus. After a while, we tried fishing, but the rods were namesake twigs stringed with threads and hooks.
We gave it up and jumped into the pool for an hour of frolicking. Luckily, the pool ad just opened for public after the COVID lockdown.
Tired by 6pm, we went upstairs to our room and took a nice shower. After dinner, we played a few board games set aside in the lobby. Carroms was few minutes of kill-time.
We were done for the day. The next morning, we launched ourselves for breakfast and found a sumptuous meal. Although the preparation and taste needed a lot of work, we relished on the generous assortments- parathas, upma, dosas, pancakes, chole, sambar, dal, cake, muffins, bread, croissant, cornflakes, chocos, milk, mango juice, cut fruits, mixed fruit juice and tea/coffee.
We slided back into our room for some last few minutes before check-out and enjoyed the view to the lake from our balcony. Splendid in every sense.
Apart from the food, I would summarize the Resort as a gem on the borders of the Aleppey backwaters. Thanks to everyone at the resort for giving us a great new year break.
