Hello Fellow Local Guides,
I am piloting and testing out a small experience tour in our City. We will be using our accounts to review restaurants and other places in Baguio City and Benguet.
Here is a sample of our poster for the event,
I am wondering should I add Local Guides logo in this poster since one of its main objective is to let participants contribute through local guides? Or are there any branding rules that we should be following? I do I put this as an event for local guides?
Thanks
Hello @VincePH ,
According to the Local Guides Program Terms and Conditions the usage of the Local Guides logo is reserved for official use only. I invite you to go over the program rules to learn more.
I also would like to remind you that Local Guides Connect is not a platform for commercial advertising or self-promotion of any kind. I will link the article we have if you are planning to host a sponsored meet-up - Guidelines for hosting a sponsored meet-up
Hi @GeorgesHR
Thank you for that, I was really having second thoughts on using any local guide logo and whenever I am in doubt I just go with my gut feel that it might not be a good idea to put it in. The reason I asked is to get some sort of validation from you guys. And for that I thank you.
As for the second part, the event is not a platform for commercial advertising. I also have gone over the link that you have sent and I tried to see to it that this event will not violate any of that. So let me breakdown the event to give you a clearer understanding and if there is a misstep that might violate such local guide meet up rule then it might not be a good idea to push through with it for local guides.

The event is to tour Baguio City and Benguet province showcasing a different kind of experience and what locals may qualify as one of the best. In the morning we will be doing a photohike (a variation of a photowalk). In the afternoon we will have lunch at one of the restaurants in Baguio (which is not our sponsor, we will pay for the food), We will then go to some souvenir shops producing not so common souvenirs from our city (anything we buy from there are going to be paid from our own pockets). For dinner we will be dining at the most popular dining place for taxi/cab drivers again we will pay for our own food.

I can see that the poster might have misled you, the one at the bottom are not sponsors but are the logos of some of the bloggers who are also local guides who will be joining the event. Four of them will be coming from Manila which is about 4 hours drive to our city. Now the sponsor which you might have seen for example a car brand, they will provide for the transportation of the bloggers from Manila who are also mentors who will help in teaching the participants how to write a blog, how to get information about a place for review, how to build rapport with the business owners among others.
-
A phone brand will be bringing in their PixelMaster (their photography ambassador) who will be teaching participants how to take stunning photos using mobile phones.
-
the rest of the sponsors have agreed to provide for our in-city transportation for Day 1 and Day 2 of the tour
-
Day 2 of the tour, we will be going outside of the City about 2-3 hours drive deeper into the mountains of Cordillera, to help a cooperative (a small organization) of coffee growers because their coffee was just recently renowned as the best coffee in the world and we as local guides would like to showcase that. We will also showcase a place in Benguet that is starting to gain popularity as the next destination from Baguio. (Food, environmental fee, entrance fee to the sites will be paid for by each participant)

This event is initiated purely by us the need to tap sponsors came about when we realized it is going to be too expensive for us to execute on our own.
-
Our hotel partner will house the participants from Manila and NO WHERE in our agreement that reviews will be provided in exchange for this sponsorship, however we will create an ad video for the hotel as an exchange, which they will be able to use for their own promotions during travel expo.
-
If you notice most of the participating sponsors does not even have their office located in our City most of them are from Manila, which means we cannot really review them anyway.
-
the sponsors in exchange would just like to have their logos placed in our promotional poster and video.
Just to close, I did my best to make sure that the sponsors are totally different from the actual businesses and places which we will be visiting during the tour. We just needed the help of such sponsors to make the event push through. If there is however a potential violation, of any of the rules then I would be happy to yield and not include this event under local guides.
Thank you and please do enlighten me if I have committed an infraction
Cheers
–Vince
