@RupendraNeupane I Know about this problem and it has been going on for quite some time and believe it, this is a problem to all Trusted Pros I too have encountered this as well but to cut a long story short it took a team of 6 to 8 people in 4 departments of Google , 4 phone calls and 26 emails later over 6 weeks I got my app fixed

to break this down in short summery

let’s try the following:

This is a quotation from Google 1 directly to me so follow carefully.

Google One

Thanks for contacting Google One support!

It was a pleasure speaking with you today!

Just to recap, you had called in regarding the Google street view arrow pointing in the wrong directions. As you had mentioned you were a trusted Photographer. As I had explained to you over the phone, a lot of people seem to be having this issue, and the steps that happen to work for them, I have listed below.

If you are a trusted Photographer you will have access to the new photo-sphere connector in the app.

  1. Open the Street View app A614611DE2DAFAD677033B507D958FE5B477.png.
  2. On the “Profile” tab, find a photo and tap Select.
  3. Tap one or more photos that you want to connect. To select all photos, go to the top right and tap More Moreand thenSelect all.
  4. In the top right, tap More Moreand thenConnect 360 photos.
  5. To see your photos on the map, tap a marker. Then, drag each photo to the correct location.
    • Add a connection: Tap the light line.
    • Delete a connection: Tap the solid line.
    • Rotate a photo: Use the compass at the bottom of the screen.
    • Save your work: Tap Save.
  6. To try your new connection, open your photo in the “Profile” tab and tap the white arrow. To edit or delete a connection, select the same photos from your collection and tap the lines.
Note: This feature is only available for trusted photographers. And It is better to delete all the old connections by holding in the arrow and tap Delete.

Learn more Publish and connect 360 photos

If you connect your photo this way, you will not have the arrow direction issues. The older version of the Photo-Spheres connector had a lot of issues. This new version has fixed all the bug and issues.

Note: If you have done adding all the connections, please have some patience as the new connections will not be in Google Maps instantly it might take some time.

I hope the steps above worked. I really want to try my best to help you resolve this issue.

This may be a bug issue, in which you can report the issue through Feedback.

Hello David,

So I presented both of the examples you sent and showed it to the product specialists. They looked it over, and they confirmed that both the examples you sent are functioning properly as it should. Its a matter of moving the cursor more in the way you want it to turn. So this would be a feature request. You want to submit a feature request if you want changes to the UI function. Below are steps to submit feedback which will be seen by developers for the feature request.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply back to this email.

Thanks,
Meet

Thank you for taking the time to respond to our email. If you could allow 24-48 hours to reply as we investigate this issue further. Once we have additional information for you we will reach out to you, in the meantime, we appreciate your patience.

Hi David,

Thank you for reaching back out. I have fully gone over the case and I am truly sorry it has taken me this long to get back to you.

To move forward, both of the examples you sent were shown to the product specialists. They looked it over, and they confirmed that both the examples you sent are functioning properly as it should. This means that the Application itself is functioning at normal parameters. Its a matter of moving the cursor more in the way you want it to turn. So this would be a feature request. What you are asking is not yet a feature of the application. You will need to submit a feature request if you want changes to the UI function in general. Follow the link for the steps to provide this information.

Development teams get direct contact when you send Feedback/Suggestions. The more feedback given about a certain feature, the more things get prioritized, and hopefully, a simpler method or a fix gets built into a future version.

I also saw that you are getting unwanted photos in the Google Street View App. Please take a look at the help center for the 360 views:

Publish and connect 360 photos with the Street View app - Computer - Google Maps Help

With the Google Street View app, this is a Google Play app. You can reach out directly to Google Play by going to the help center, clicking on getting help and following the instructions to reach them for one on one support.

Hello Jackie sorry for the late reply but oh my gosh I followed your exact instructions above

  • Use Android Settings, verify, check and install any needed Android OS updates.

  • Check the Google Play store for any app updates (including all the Google Services) and install them.

  • Go to Settings > Location, tap on “Mode”, Select “High Accuracy”.

  • Tap on Settings > Apps, find “Maps” on the list and tap on it then click on “Storage” and then “Clear Cache”.

  • After the above steps, restart the mobile phone. And test if the issue persists.
then I went straight to some locations to where I was having problems, then I had a try at rejoining and connecting them and it Worked oh my gosh it worked,
“A success” I could just hug and kiss you right now sorry, I had faith in you the whole time i did. thank you thank you, “it is working”, But let us monitor it over the next 4 weeks and until the next update is released anyway you would probably agree and see how it goes… And I would love to give you the feedback you where asking above.
    My answers below

  • What is the Google Pixel 2 XL OS Version? Android Version 9

  • What is the Google Maps app version? 10.6.2

  • Has this feature been worked correctly anytime in the past? its been perfect for me in the past its only in last month or so it started.

  • Does the feature work correctly sometimes? lately in last month or so No it is been frustrating.

  • Did the issue begin after a recent OS or app update? Yes around the end of October 2018 start of November 2018 I remember this correctly.

I’m facing the same problem now with a series of 360 photos I uploaded recently from my Insta360 OneX. You notice the problem as soon as you connect them. Then you notice that N ist not N on the compass. Many of the photos are rotated by up to 180°.

I wish there was a function in the StreetView App (which is great and simple btw) to save a new and correct N direction value to existing spheres.

I did not see a solution for that in this thread. It seems to me that experts from google didn’t even realize the description of the problem.

You can find my photos at https://goo.gl/maps/ZarkSDXAchRo1vot7 this location and it is easy to recognize that the N-alignment doesn’t match reality.

I suggest to have a function like “Realign North” in the app so that the user can rotate his photos pointing to the correct direction.

@ErnstMarkus I also use insta 360 one x, I also get same orientation problem when i upload from google maps. And if i upload from Street View app it works. i don’t find exact solution.

Thank you RupendraNeupane, I used the Android StreetView App to upload and connect my footage.

Next time I will try to take all photos with the cam heading to north, hoping this will solve the direction problem.
I’ll keep you informed in this thread.

Hey @RupendraNeupane did you solved this issue in the meantime?

I’m just startes right now to sharing 360 photos on google maps - made with insta360 one r - and facing with the same problem.

I’m just asking because I figured out a workaround solution using an open source third party software before sharing on the map. With this tool I’m able to reorient the photo.

The process briefly is the following.

  • exporting the 360 photo from the insta360 app for android

  • open&reorient&export with the 3rd party tool on a computer

  • sharing the photo with streetview app for android

I have also prepared some explanation pictures. If you are still interested to solve this just let me know. I’ll share the pictures with some explanation here.

Have a nice day!
