Hi there everyone! I’ve searched hi and low for a group or persons a part of Google’s Local Guides in the Willamette Valley area, but haven’t found any aside for a scattered few. I’d love for a place where we could all just ‘check in’ with our local areas and see who might be nearby and thus, who best to reach out to!
I personally live in the Salem area, and have lived and frequently travel to Portland. I love trying new foods, looking at new shops, and in general taking my time to enjoy what things are happening in and around me.While it’s fine and fun to go alone, I do thing going as a group and filling in a bunch of the missing info bits would help Salem- especially downtown where a lot of businesses start up and fill such perfect niches and add a charm to the historic buildings mixing with the modern.
Its always fun to go out and meet new people, but Oregon isn’t a huge ‘hub’ in a lot of people’s eyes but, I think that’s just because they don’t know the state like it’s people do. I hope that by making this post we can all just have a spot or thread that we can see ‘Oh hey, that person is nearby, maybe they’d be interested in a meetup’. That being said, I hope you all are having as much fun as I am, and hope to maybe meet a few of you myself.
As they say in Portland, Keep it Weird my fellow Oregonians!
With the LG summit being this month, I would think that would be so awesome. It would be like celebrating the runner-ups. Needing a smile this Halloween.
I’m in Portland for work, live in Vancouver. I drive for a travel group so head off on adventures on a regular basis. Would love to meet other Local Guides for adventures as well.
I would suggest that we leave the venue open to get a good idea where the majority of those interested in attending are located until the 15th possibly 21st. if it’s not in southern Oregon.
Hello, my name is Kathleen and I live in Salem Oregon. I have lived in Oregon my whole life and I’m almost 59 and still do not know alot of people here but I’d like to change that and start by getting to know other Local Guides. I am at a level 6 if that makes any difference to anyone. So are there any other local guides in the Willamette Valley that you have found?
Back at it again with the meet ups and being a guide.
I just moved to Gresham and oh man I’ve been so inactive. I would love to do a meet up for halloween! There is St. Helens which hosts the ‘Halloweentown’ thing, otherwise, for a first meet up, Eugene might be ideal as it’s a middle area for most of us.
Alternatively, a local guide can offer meet up in their town, and we all do it sort of rotational? Like one month we plan to meet up in salem- the salem guides offer where to meet/what to do. Next month we all meet in Medford. After that, Bend. Etc etc. What do you all think?
I have lived in Boring Oregon 26 miles east of downtown Portland since early 60’s, and around Portland half that time. But the east side is my area of knowledge.
