Ongiin Khiid was Mongolia’s largest Buddhist center, it was established in the middle of the 17th century, including 4 Buddhist universities with more than 1,000 monks. Very sadly now is only a rubble, from 1937 to 1939, the anti-superstition movement broke down all monuments.
This is a famous tourist destination in Mongolia, a center to receive energy from the universe (in MC there are only 3 centers). The scenery is beautiful in the spring, although it comes in late autumn but the scenery is still fascinating.
Thank you for sharing these photos with us. They are amazing! How long you spend there? What type of activities are available? Could you add more details about your experience?
Hi @GNaz , unfortunately we were the last visitors of the touristic season, all camps were closed, we stayed half day just to visit some places, to be energized and admired the scenery. In tourist season there were a some activities such as horse or camel riding, hiking , kayaking or rafting and it’s worth to spend there about one week to enjoy the nature and history.
Thank you for reading!
Hi @GNaz , thanks for your encouragement. The tourist season is from May to October, but in the North of Mongolia it could be from January because some want to enjoy the snow.
Regards,
Thank you for the detailed explanation @Thai_Ngh . I believe that it will also help others to understand more about the weather conditions in that area.
