The Ruwanweli Maha Seya or the Swarnamali Maha Seya is a physical stupa located in Sri Lanka. This is the main dagaba belonging to the ancient temple. It is also the main stupa of the Maha Vihara. This stupa is one of the sixteen sacred places (sixteen places of worship) and the Atamasthana (eight places of worship in Anuradhapura). The Ruwanweli Seya was the most sacred body in Sri Lanka until the Sacred Tooth Relic was brought to Sri Lanka. It was later awarded to the Sacred Tooth Relic. It is still the most sacred shrine in Sri Lanka.
