Miraflores in Lima, Peru is Lima’s affluent and picturesque seaside district. It’s a beautiful tourist destination with great hotels, restaurants, cafes and bars, and beautiful beaches and a high cliff-side with amazing views from atop overlooking the Pacific and the playground of adventure sports like paragliding and surfing. There are also many beautiful parks and gardens along Miraflores’ spectacular Malecon (“boardwalk” in Spanish) and Parque del Amor, the Park of Love, is the main one. In fact, it’s Peru’s most famous and was chosen by National Geographic as being one of the most romantic destinations in the world and is one of the most visited sites on the Malecon Cisneros.
Thank you for making us discover this beautiful area. I’ve heard about this park before and even remembered the statue of the two lovers. I think that more such beautiful places should be created around the world.
Do you often go to this area? I guess cafes, and restaurants are a bit more expensive in this region than the rest, right?
Yes it is a very famous park. The statue that you have mentioned of the lovers is known as “El Beso” (The Kiss) and interestingly, it is believed to be that of the Peruvian sculptor Victor Delfín himself and his wife, immortalized in stone, embraced and kissing, so how romantic is that!!! Fittingly, the park was inaugurated on Valentines Day, February 14, 1993, yes the day of love, and apparently each year on “Valentine’s Day” there is a massive attendance, and the “Longest Kiss” contest among the attending couples takes place. The Park of Love is a perfect location for couples to see the sunset in Lima. By the way it’s also been said that Parque del Amor was inspired by Antoni Gaudí’s Parc Guell in Barcelona.
No, I do not go to this area often but I have been there several times now.
It is so nice that such places exist, isn’t it! To be honest, I haven’t heard before of this park, but it was interesting to learn more about it and discover another beautiful place in the world through your eyes. As I am in the beginning of planning a trip to Peru, I guess I should be definitely adding this place as one of the must visit locations there.
Hey @TsekoV , we meet again. From the fast bullet trains in China, here we are today in the slow moving romantic footpath laiden parks of Miraflores, Lima, Peru lol. No I am not a Peruvian local but visited Peru in 2017 and 2018. Like China, Peru is a fascinating country with amazing history and after some touring I wanted to visit Miraflores and in particular the Parque del Amor which I had read about in National Geographic I think it was. To me it is really nice that places like this do exist as it’s great for the local people and also brings in tourism which helps local businesses. As I mentioned in my introductory post, Miraflores is an affluent and picturesque seaside district and there’s lots to see and do there so well worth your visit. I look forward to seeing your future post and pictures of your visit there
I believe you are so fortunate to travel to so many beautiful places! Just as you, I wish I could visit there one day and explore this marvelous country.
@AdamGT well… I know this spot!, very very nice place indeed, specially because of the surroundings, I think the vibe is great as well as the crowd of both locals and tourists… I think there is a “Beso Frances” nearby to get a good coffee and creppes! thanks for sharing my friend!
Yes I totally agree, I have been very fortunate to have had the opportunity to travel to interesting and amazingly beautiful places. Peru is definitely worth a visit and I am sure that you will enjoy it. In 2017 I went to the “City of the Kings” Lima and Pisco and in 2018 I returned to Lima (Callao).
Yes indeed along the spectacular Malecon of Miraflores, is a beautiful part of Lima. I think the crepería you mention is in Gran Mariscal Mariano Nocochea and not far from this is the massive Intihuatana sculpture. Sadly it was overcast on the day that I was there but often it is. However, it was still nice!
Yes it must be a visit with your partner. You must have a friend or friendly passerby take your photo of the two of you embrace in a big kiss under El Beso hehehe!
Hello. Thank you for sharing a great place. The seaside town of Lima also has a mountainous area, so you can enjoy both the sea and the mountains. This is great. In addition, I think that it is a very attractive place where you can eat delicious seafood and mountain food. Thank you very much. Regard🙏
