When my facebook friend, whom I have never met , called me to Bali, Indonesia.…It seemed a great opportunity to travel to the country I always wanted to visit.
So one of the interesting visit it to this place - Jati Harum in Bali , which is about an hours drive from Denpasar. Bali. We had hired a cab to take us there and renting a cab is very cheap( about 15 USD for a whole day trip )
The specialty is the World famous Luwak Coffee of Bali. This is the breed of cat known as Civet ,which is fed with the partial digested coffee cherries. After defecated this is also called Civet coffee.
The above cherries are fermented as they pass through a civet’s intestines and collected and the rest of the process is the same as grinding the regular bean of coffee and preparation.
The processed beans are quite safe to drink
Different flavors and other ingredients are prepared to suit ones taste. The price is about 5 times more expensive compared to a ordinary cup of coffee. I was not very keen to taste it but as my friends wanted to try it , we ended up drinking it. I found it was like any coffee and there was too much hype about this coffee. The cost of a pound of coffee costs anywhere from USD 100 and above.
This is the nice seating area with comfy chairs and the person comes with a tray to give us the Luwak coffee. The tray also has a number of glass cups with different flavors of tea and coffee which was a free sample. Sitting here with a beautiful view of the famous Jatilluwih Rice Terraces is so refreshing and soothing,Finally the person who is assisting you to the whole trip with you takes you to the store where one can purchase the coffee and other momentous and souvenirs you require.
I do like coffee but this trip was of a different level all together.
