The official religion in Thailand is Theravada Buddhism with over 95% of the population. Thailand is primarily a Buddhist country. The lotus flower plays an important role in Buddhist beliefs.
This is because the lotus itself emerges from the mud and grows into light and warmth. Represents rising above the sea of passion while longing for enlightenment.
Lotus are found all over Thailand and come in a variety of colors, white, pink, red, purple, etc. They are planted in shallow water basins or even in small lotus pond in front of the house.
If you have a small lotus pond in front of your house. Do not forget to adding guppy in there.
This makes guppies a great addition to already established ponds as a mosquito deterrent, or as an aesthetic centerpiece fish in their own little patio pond to keep bugs away in summer.

@ONEONE Thanks for sharing the information and photos on the lotus flower. Agreed that the lotus flower has significant meaning in Buddhism I have seen many Buddhists keep the lotus flower in a wide pot or small pond in their house compound or even in temples. I first time saw a yellow Lotus @ONEONE i really love all your flowers picture and the quality of picture is too good .

@Mukul_Anand Thank you for your lovely comment. I have no idea about how to take a macro photo at all, Its just a self-timer feature on my phone and camera is a great tool for take a good flower photo.

Wonderful post on lotus, @ONEONE . I have traveled to Thailand numerous times. Every time I visited I found lotus stems on my bed as a welcome gift from the hotel. I loved those. I just never knew it’s link with the religion. Those purple lotus flowers never failed to boost me up any given day. Thanks for sharing the beautiful post. By the way, I didn’t know that guppies can be used as a mosquito or bugs repellant. Thanks for the tip as well.
