Recently, I received a notification on how many views the place I added on the map has accrued. And following the current news in Nigeria, this organization has been trending due to the impact they are making in the economy.
So, when I realized that I actually added this place on the map, I felt some pride as a Local Guide.
In 2019, a friend called me up to escort him on an errand and it turned out to be one of the biggest refineries in the world. The huge site was still under construction. There were thousands of trucks and workers; extra large pipes, metals, earth moving equipment, cranes and loads of sands pouring into the wetlands.
Well, as a Local Guide, I took photos and most importantly added the location on the map. Some photos gave insight on ongoing activities. That refinery was not yet on Google Maps, so I was lucky to put up!
