Would someone who has attended one of the previous years ConnectLive events convince me on why I should want to go?

I only really became a guide because I wanted to fix wrong information that I saw on Google Maps. Now, 1 year or so later, I am being invited to a party that I didn’t expect and don’t understand.

I have not been there but am sure it will provide an avenue to you to meet new people. To learn about others and new ideas to improve your online experience.

First of all I need to clarify one point. You have been invited to apply for Connec Live 2019, where 200 Local Guides, selected between the people that applyed, will attend a 3 and a half days experience at Google home, with workshops and conversation with the Googlers (Last year we had more than 100 Googlers in the event).
Every Local Guide had common experiences and personal feeling, so it is quite difficult to give a general answer. What you can do is:
Check the official page, where you will find photos and videos of the event.
Use the search in Connect, to see the experience posted by several Local Guides after the event: searchpage=connect live recap
