It has been an amazing journey so far on the programme since joining last year.
In March 2019, I needed to search for a not so known school to host my International Women’s Day voluntary event and that search led me to the knowledge that a lot of schools in my community are not yet mapped and the few that have been mapped, requires editing.
So I chattered a taxi and veered into one of the nearby towns, I started with a private mixed school run by a dedicated woman. So because I am passionate about Girls and Women related issues, I was happy to find a school run by a woman with the management team made up about 50 percent women. I hosted my event there in commemoration of International Women’s Day. It did not end there, I shared with them the numerous things one can achieve with Google Map and the Local Guide programme, I then took professional pictures of the school and added them on the Google Map as they have never been added before.
So it was a sort of revelation for me that a lot of learning centers are yet not on Google Map and so, henceforth, I shall see that most of them I can find on foot or by recommendation shall be added correctly on map.
I am passionate about mapping schools because, we can never overemphasize how important schools/learning centers are in our lives. It is where about 60 percent character of children and adults are formed. It is indeed a thing of pleasure for me to make it easy for parents and individuals to find good schools and learning centers around them and what to expect.
I map other places too, but adding learning institutions is the highlight for me. #Localstories #Connect2019 #Localguidesconnect2019
